Here’s when the new pizza concept from the owners of Sexton’s Pizza will open
Uncle Frico’s will arrive before the end of the month.
According to co-owner Joey Sexton–who alongside brother Jamie Sexton is also behind Sexton’s Pizza–the duo’s new thin-crust pizza shop, Uncle Frico’s, will open its doors on Aug. 26. It’s located at 222 W. Lane Ave.

While Sexton’s is known for its artisanal take on New York-style pizza, the Sextons’ new concept will focus on bar pie, a style of ultra-thin pizza originally served in taverns along the East Coast. The eatery’s name, in addition to referencing Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite, comes from the crispy, caramelized rim, called frico, that forms when pizza cheese comes into contact with its pan while cooking.
According to Joey Sexton, the idea has been in the works for years. Sexton’s previously served a version of bar pie, but had to drop it from the menu after the popularity of their regular pizzas soared following an 8.1 score from Dave Portnoy’s One Bite Pizza Reviews in 2023.
