Immersive tiki bar concept coming to Italian Village

Jack McLaughlin

It’s still cold here in Columbus, but island vibes are on their way to Budd Dairy Food Hall.

Yesterday, the Italian Village food hall announced that a new pop-up, It Aint Easy Bein’ Tiki, will temporarily transform Simon’s Bar on Budd Dairy’s second floor into a “vibrant and tropical escape for all to enjoy.”

The tiki concept will open on March 28, and will be held every Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m.-12 a.m. for the foreseeable future. An It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Tiki representative told 614Now that the pop-up will likely continue its run at Budd Dairy throughout the summer, and an exact closure date is currently undetermined.

Billed as “immersive” and an “activation,” the new pop-up “invites guests to step into a playful world of tropical escapism, an atmosphere specifically curated to feel like you’ve discovered a dreamlike island oasis right here in Columbus,” according to a press release.

It will feature speciality cocktails like the Toucan Slam (Middlewest Pumpernickel Rye with Campari, fresh pineapple, lime and a hint of cinnamon) and the Pier Pressure Colada (pineapple juice, coconut cream, lime and demerara brown sugar), which can be served as-is as a no-proof option, although rum, vodka or tequila can also be added.

Budd Dairy vendors also plan to offer tiki-themed food options that will be available to pair with It Ain’t Easy Bein’; Tiki drinks.
