It happened again: Car crashes into Columbus restaurant for the second time

Three and a half years after the restaurant temporarily closed due to being hit by a vehicle, Hoggy’s Restaurant & Catering announced that it has once again been struck by a car.

While the restaurant’s front entrance was struck last time, the recent incident saw the back of Hoggy’s incur damage, according to owner Kyle Turner, who noted that the eatery’s walk-in cooler was damaged. He told 614Now a delivery driver struck the back of their building, backed up, and then struck it a second time.

“I think it’s bad luck,” Turner said the cause of the crashes. “One was a drunk driver, the other was an errant food delivery. I do think Bethel Road [Hoggy’s is located at 830 Bethel Rd.] tends to be a highway, but it is what it is.”

Turner added that the recent crash caused less damaged to the restaurant, but resulted in “just as many headaches” for the eatery, as they’re having to operate out of a refrigerated trailer on loan from their food supplier.

Forced to close for several weeks in January of 2023, Hoggy’s will be able to remain open during the repair process this time.

“Working out of a trailer is not ideal for any team but we’ll work through it to stay open to serve the best barbecue in Columbus,” Turner said.
