Move over hot dogs: Downtown restaurant hosting cheesesteak-eating contest

Move over, Coney Island and Nathan’s Famous; Columbus is starting its very own patriotic eating competition—with cheesesteaks?

Jackie O’s on Fourth posted the flyer on its Instagram, in collaboration with Wario’s Beef and Pork. On July 3, the brewery will host the first-ever local Cheesesteak Eating Contest.

If you’re not familiar with the greasy, sauce-drenched sandwiches proudly prepared at Wario’s, then it’s time for a crash course. The East Coast-styled sandwich shop serves up meat piled onto semolina-seeded rolls, topped with veggies as far as the eye can see, and finished off with cheese whiz or Wario’s signature sauce.

Eager locals are already anticipating the heartburn: “Anyone who gets through 3 deserves a medal and a life insurance policy,” one user commented under the post.
