Local farm eyeing brick-and-mortar space in German Village for new grocery shop
A family-owned farm based in Central Ohio is looking to put down roots in German Village.
WIT Farm supplies local, pasture-raised beef, pork, and poultry, plus value-added products, to customers in the German Village and Clintonville areas, as well as through delivery across the greater Columbus area. And farmers Jamie and Kyle Pritchard now have ambitions to open a grocery shop to further provide for their customers.
While they don’t yet have a location for the space, Jamie expressed an interest in the former location of Chapman’s Eat Market, which closed in August, in German Village.
Jamie shared that this shop, which will be called The Farmer’s Larder and would sell their locally sourced meats and prepared foods, furthers the farm’s mission of introducing their customers to more Central Ohio producers and educating them on easy-to-cook meals.
“My favorite customers are always those who tell me they can’t cook anything and by the end of the farmers market season I’ve got them cooking intricate meals (like my cheater way to make perfect duck confit and fondant potatoes),” Jamie said.

Jamie would love to open their shop in German Village because of how they’ve connected with the community. WIT’s first market was the second-ever German Village Farmers Market, and they’ve been at every Saturday market since, for over eight years now.
“I have had the pleasure of watching families grow up, childrens’ first ‘real food’ being our bone broth. German Village, even though it’s right in the city, feels like such a small town. Everyone is incredibly wonderful to spend time with and our farmers market regulars have also watched my family and farm grow,” Jamie said.
“Nowhere else has the same feeling. And I want to keep serving my German Village customers in the best ways possible.”
