Longtime spot for donuts, diner fare quietly closes its doors

A staple amongst Columbus donut enthusiasts has closed after decades on the city’s South Side.

Golden Donuts & Diner, which was known for its retro interior and cheap, quality donuts, is now closed.

It’s not clear when or why the South Side diner closed its doors, and the owners of the building could not be reached for comment. The former home of Golden Donuts, which is located at 1928 Lockborne Rd., is currently boarded up, with a “for rent” sign on display. The diner’s most recent Yelp review was posted in December of 2025.

The eatery appeared multiple times in Stock & Barrel, including a holiday fritter roundup in the winter of 2020 (at which time the eatery was charing only a single dollar per donut), as well in a guide to classic Columbus donut spots in the fall of 2024.
