National burger chain permanently closes Columbus-area location

The Grove City location of a racing-themed burger chain has reached the checkered flag. Following a flurry of social media speculation, The Rally’s at 1939 Stringtown Rd in Grove City has permanently closed.

614NOW confirmed onsite yesterday, arriving to find the former Rally’s building shuttered as the sign was being dismantled. The drive thru menu had been completely removed, along with other signage usually adorning the windows. Their Google business profile has also been marked “Permanently Closed.”

The Rally’s website shows many locations still open around Columbus, with about 12 operating throughout central Ohio, and up to 800 Rally’s and Checkers locations open throughout the United States. The Rally’s on Parsons Ave and Georgesville remain open, and are now the closest locations to the southwest Columbus Metro area. The Grove City Rally’s location has been removed from the site, but the closure was not officially announced from the brand.

The former Grove City Rally’s building on Stringtown was originally constructed in 1983, per Franklin County Auditor records. Plans for the vacant Rally’s building have not yet been announced.
