National pizza chain shutters sole Central Ohio eatery

A Michigan-based pizza chain has closed its only Central Ohio restaurant.

Hungry Howie’s Pizza, which was located at 815 N. Houk in Delaware, shuttered in late April.It’s unclear why the Delaware eatery closed.

In a post made to a Delaware-area Facebook group, residents took to the internet to lament the closure.

“Always loved hungry howies. Sheet pizza was a fav and their Italian ‘sub.’ We will miss it,” one user wrote.

“Ordered pizza from here tonight. It tasted fabulous!  Sad they are closing,” another Facebook user wrote.

Offering everything from New York-style and Detroit-style pies to deep dish, thin crust pizza, subs and salads, Hungry Howie’s originally opened in Taylor, Michigan in 1973, before later expanding through Michigan’s lower peninsula and into the Northeastern Ohio, where it operates nine locations today.
