New eatery serving 4 foot-long dosas, Avocado Boba Tea, opening next week

Custom cakes, Indian cuisine and some really, really long dosas have arrived in Powell.

CocoKay Bites–a new concept inspired by CoccoKay Bites Biriyani Express owners Bala and Priya Somakandan–officially opened its doors for business on June 10. It’s located at 170 W. Olentangy St.

While the restaurant boasts Indian and Sri Lankan roots, it describes itself as “not a traditional Indian restaurant,” offering European-style cakes and desserts, a variety of South Asian cuisine (including a “4-foot-long dosa,” an Indian crepe made from fermented rice and lentils) and unique drinks like Avocado Boba Tea and Lavender Boba Tea.

“This is a modern restaurant – one rarely seen outside of New York City,” Bala Somakandan said in a press release. “It is a quite casual and affordable spot with a diversity of freshly made food.”

The new Powell spot will offer room for 35 diners inside, with space for 30 more on their patio.

“We want the residents of Powell and central Ohio overall to experience the food and beverages,” Bala Somakandan said in a press release. “The food is a source of pride, really, and we invite diners to taste the difference.”
