New Japanese-inspired cafe brings viral -122° frozen coffee to Columbus
A drink craze that began in China made its way to American TikTok, and will soon be available in Ohio.
Sora Café, a “Japanese-inspired” drink and dessert spot, recently held its soft opening, and will soon be one of the first places in Columbus (if not the very first) to offer the viral -122° dirty coffee drink, also known as flash-frozen coffee.
The trendy drink “flash-freezes” cups to -122° using specialty refrigeration. After removing the cup, milk is poured in, which freezes instantly. Hot espresso is then poured over the frozen milk, creating a layered drink with unique, contrasting temperatures.

According to a Sora Café employee, the new spot is still awaiting speciality equipment to create the drinks, but is hoping to make them soon.
The new cafe is located at 1462 Bethel Rd. on the city’s Northwest Side. It also offers matcha, other coffee drinks, tea, and desserts.
