Cheese themed cocktails? Eclectic concept from former Mouton lead now open Downtown

After nearly two years and a series of pop-up events, Shapeshifter is finally opening its doors.

On June 17, Franklinton bar Shapeshifter opened after two years of permits and rebuilding. Located at 129 McDowell St., the bar was conceived after the sudden closure of High Street bar Mouton, where manager Theo Lentz was forced to pivot.

After a series of themed pop-up events showcasing Lentz’s culinary skills and ability to create menus with unique drinks, the concept of Shapeshifter was born, serving as the backdrop for rotating menus and themed events.

Previous pop-up menus included featured drinks from events such as Christmas in July, Tea Party, and Eat Cheese and Sin.

To celebrate, Shapeshifter will be hosting a Grand Opening party on June 20 featuring a menu of the bar’s greatest hits. Keeping up with its shapeshift theme, patrons are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite rock star.
