New locally owned ice cream spot serving up hand-dipped scoops

Jordan Abbruzzese

A new spot for sweet treats has opened its doors just in time for Valentine’s Day. Officially slinging scoops as of February 10th, Barb & Roy’s Ice Cream is the latest spot in Grove City to grab hand-dipped ice cream, sundaes, floats, and other frozen concoctions.

According to a post on their Instagram at @barbandroysicecream:

“Ice cream season starts today! Stop in and enjoy one of our Valentine themed creations. Barb and Roy’s ice cream and treats is now located inside Putt N Play family fun center at 4021 Thistlewood Drive.”

(Not to mention if you bring up the above Instagram post, you’ll get $1 off your order through Sunday, February 15th!)

While Putt N Play has been a go-to place for family fun for almost 20 years, a year-round ice cream and treat counter is new. The outdoor putt-putt course, batting cages, and other activities typically close for the winter season, but Barb & Roy’s concept is here to stay all year.

Through Valentine’s Day weekend, Barb & Roy’s will be selling holiday specials, like the chocolate covered strawberry sundae, strawberry cookie dough, or the “Be Mine” Brownie sundae. Additionally, the ice cream shop is offering a “Kid’s Cupid’s Scoop” treat that comes topped with whipped cream, chocolate or strawberry sauce, and heart-shaped sprinkles that is “perfect for little Valentines.”

Those from the Midwest know that “ice cream weather” is just a state of mind. Come snow or freezing weather, if there is a new sweet treat – Columbus will be there.
