This up-and-coming speciality cinnamon roll concept has been selling out in under 10 minutes
Something sweet is going on in the Southern Orchards neighborhood of Columbus—a new micro-bakery is serving up some of the most coveted cinnamon rolls in town.

The Roll Model Bakehouse is whipping up specialty cinnamon rolls, and they don’t stay on the shelf for long—the pre-order drops have been known to sell out in under 10 minutes. The micro-bakery is owned and operated by James Adgate, and it’s growing fast. The business operates on a pre-order and porch-pickup model, with scheduled online drops that sell out quickly. Partially because the quantity is limited, but mainly because the rolls are delectable.
Adgate has been experimenting with seasonal flavors, in addition to the classic roll that’s always available. This month’s special roll is The Corn to Be Wild(berry) Roll. According to social media, it was inspired by the Ohio State Fair. Adgate said, “After some Ohio State Fair inspiration (and rewatching episodes of The Simple Life), I had a ton of fun coming up with this one. And it’s soooo good! My fluffy OG base dough is rolled up with layers of honey butter, housemade mixed berry jam, and sweet buttery cornbread, then baked to perfection. Each roll is topped with brown butter buttermilk glaze, more jam, and finished with a crispy cornbread crumble. It’s very Midwest. It’s late summer vibes. It’s delicious.”
The secret ingredient is probably love, but according to their website it might be spite. Adgate said, “The Roll Model was born after I had the worst cinnamon roll of my life. Seriously. It ruined my entire day. I won’t name names, but it was drier than the Sahara, and the tiny pea-sized dollop of icing tasted like melted plastic…My goal is simple: bring ridiculously good cinnamon rolls to people so they never have to suffer through the kind of traumatic cinnamon roll experience that started all of this.”
