Popular cheesesteak concept unveils new ‘state-of-the-art’ food truck
One of the city’s most popular cheesesteak concepts is returning its roots. Sort of.
Marlow’s Cheesesteaks, the eatery launched by Philladelphia natives Jomar and Shanika Sheppard, will unveil its brand-new “state-of-the-art” food truck at the Ohio Black Expo, which will be held May 23-24 at Genoa Park.
Marlow’s began as a food trailer on the East Side, before expanding onto local food halls and securing a brick and mortar space in 2022, meaning the new truck represents a full-circle moment for the brand

According to Jomar Sheppard, the truck will be used to bring food to local festivals and for catering orders.
“The truck was [Shanika Sheppard’s] passion. We would get a lot of catering requests, and we wanted a space to do them outside of our restaurant,” Jomar Sheppard said. “It’s her passion project, she wanted to be able to bring more food to more people.”
He said the new truck–which contains a fully digital POS system with a ticket screen, a large grill and even a freezer for their water ice–will be able to offer most of Marlow’s menu, excluding salmon cheesesteak.
If food trucks are your thing, the Ohio Black Expo will feature a lineup of 30 different trucks, including “Caribbean to West African and traditional Southern Soul Food to plant-based” cuisine.
Marlow’s operates three brick and mortar locations, in Gahanna, Budd Dairy Food Hall and the North Market.
