Among the many café collaborations emerging in Columbus, Metsi’s Wood-Fired Italian is making room for a local coffee concept to introduce a daytime café experience.

Teaming up with Park Service Coffee, Metsi’s is opening its ground-level space in the mornings to offer a new cafe in the Short North.

“We’ve always loved the idea of finding new ways for people to experience Metsi’s, and opening the restaurant during the day felt like a natural next step,” said BJ Lieberman, owner of Metsi’s Wood-Fired Italian. “We want this to feel like an extension of what people already love about Metsi’s—thoughtful food, great hospitality and a space where people want to spend time. Park Service felt like the right partner to help us bring that to a different part of the day.”

Opening September 25, Metsi’s space at 36 E. Lincoln St. will transform into a full cafe, offering a new menu of Italian-inspired dishes to pair with Park Service’s coffee.

The daytime menu will combine Park Service favorites and new creations from Metsi’s kitchen, such as wood-fired pepper quiche, mortadella sandwich on house-made sourdough focaccia, farro, and more. The coffee menu will also feature a maple hazelnut budino cappuccino, inspired by Metsi’s maple hazelnut budino dessert.

This collaboration follows the closure of Woodhouse Vegan, where Park Service Coffee operated. After several pop-ups and continuing its mobile service, working with Metsi’s became the perfect fit.

“When we started thinking about what was next for Park Service, we didn’t want to simply recreate what we had before,” said Cole Garside, co-owner of Park Service Coffee. “We wanted to find the right partnership and a space that gave us room to grow while still feeling like Park Service. Metsi’s felt like a natural fit, and we’re excited about what we can create together.”

The cafe concept will be open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. then the space will transition back to its regular wood-fired Italian dinner service beginning at 4 p.m.
