Retro sports-themed pizzeria and milkshake bar replacing longstanding local spot

While PJ’s Original Family Restaurant in Sunbury may be gone, an exciting new concept is set to take its place.

According to co-owner Taylor Trobridge, a unique new restauranta called Sticks Table & Tap will open this fall in the former home of PJ’s, which is located at W. 571 Cherry St.

The concept, which will embrace a retro sports theme, will be anchored by its house made pizza and milkshake bar.

“Pizza wise we are going to be making everything fresh. Made in house dough. Made from scratch sauces,” Trobridge told “We will have basic pizzas but also do some really fun funky ones. Everything will be fresh.”

The milkshakes will be “classic” flavors, in addition to at least one signature option, although Trobridge noted there’s a unique aspect of their frozen treats that the concept plans to reveal later as a “surprise.”

Additionally, the new spot will aim to capture a retro-cool neighborhood sports bar feel, complete with a cocktail program and a rotating beer that will be brewed in-house.

“We are talking about a pub-like bar. Stained woods, dark colors, fireplace, walls with old sports photography,” she said. “You’re going to see photos of golfing in the 1940s with wooden golf clubs.”

For Trobridge, the new eatery represents something of a dream come true. A first time business owner, she’s teamed up with longtime Central Ohio restaurateur—and her current employer at the Old Dog Ale House—in Spann.

Ultimately, both owners see Sticks as a versatile concept where community members can come grab a drink and good food, or “have a first date” at the milkshake bar.

“I want people to have awesome memories in our space. I can’t wait to share with the community what we are creating,” Trobridge said.
