The next Bears Bagels?: Trending cinnamon roll baker selling up to 200 handmade treats a day

Gahanna Cinnamon Swirls is hot out of the oven, and it’s also hot on social media channels around Columbus.

The up-and-coming home bakery, which was launched by stay at home mom Savannah Lewie, might just be the city’s next big food craze. The concept, which launched last August, offers decadent cinnamon rolls made by Lewie in her Gahanna home. It began as a hobby, and quickly grew into something much more.

“In my first full month, I sold over 140 Swirls, then 250 the next month, then over 570 the month after that,” Lewie told 614Now. “This past Mother’s Day weekend, I sold my biggest Saturday yet with 216 Swirls in one day. A lot of that growth has come from local support and people following along on social media as I share weekly baking videos and behind-the-scenes looks at how I started my home bakery.”

Preorders, which open every week on Monday, can be made here. Orders can be picked up or delivered locally (if you’re within their delivery range) every Saturday.

Lewie’s treats are also available daily (in limited quantities) at SGT Coffee Co. in Gahanna.

While Gahanna Cinnamon Swirls offers classic cinnamon rolls, the local home bakery rolls out speciality options each week. Past flavors have included Pumpkin Spice, Maple Pecan, Biscoff Cookie Butter, Strawberry Shortcake and Birthday Cake.

“I never expected something that started in my kitchen to grow into what it has today. I love creating new monthly flavors and making cinnamon rolls that feel fun, nostalgic, and homemade,” Lewie said. “I’m truly thankful for every customer, and each order still brings a smile to my face.”
