These 3 chains set to close multiple Ohio locations this year

While many small businesses are struggling to keep their doors open, larger corporations are having some problems as well.

Three giant restaurant chains are having to say goodbye to multiple locations this year, and had a rough time in the past two years as well:

  1. Wendy’sThe Dublin-based fast food chain is closing 300-350 underperforming locations nationwide, including many throughout Ohio that were considered “aged” units. Many are closing in April, specifically ones that can’t be retrofitted with AI driven drive-thrus or dedicated mobile-order windows.
  2. Red Lobster
    The seafood restaurant filed for bankruptcy in 2024, and as of this year, is reviewing its remaining 500 locations. According to PhillyBite, the chain is exiting “dozens” more locations this Spring, with many of them closing in Dayton and Cleveland.
  1. TGI Fridays
    More like, RIP Fridays. This chain also filed for bankruptcy in 2024, and following the closure of their Columbus and Mentor location, PhillyBite says several other unites across Ohio are under heavy scrutiny this April, leaving older suburban outposts as possible closures.
