Ube cupcakes for all!: Filipino bakery opens first first brick-and-mortar store

Columbus has a new spot for sweet treats—Manila Bakery held a soft opening last week for their first brick-and-mortar location.

The bakery, located at 186 N. Wilson Rd., in Columbus specializes in Filipino treats. The menu offerings include all things ube (pandesal, cakes, ensaymada, cheese bread, macapuno slices, crinkles), along with Spanish bread, custard cakes, savory breads, egg pies, and so much more. The bakery concept has been around since September 2025, fulfilling orders for pickup, 614Now spoke with an employee, who confirmed that this is the first brick-and-mortar location for the business. 

Filipino baking is known for delicate and sweet flavors like ube and coconut, Spanish influences, savory flavor profiles, and soft, pillowy breads. Manila Bakery is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m., to 5 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m., to 6 p.m. They accept pre-orders, and have regularly been selling out since opening.
