100-year-old national retailer shuttering only Columbus location
Earlier this month, 614Now reported that a national retailer filed for bankruptcy after declaring billions of dollars in debt.
Now, their sister store is closing its only Columbus location.
Saks Global Enterprises, who owns Saks Fifth Avenue department store as well as their discount store, Saks Off Fifth, claimed $2.5 billion in debt from its 2024 acquisition of Neiman Marcus.

Saks Off Fifth closed their Easton store earlier this month, and now, Saks Fifth Avenue, the 100-year-old world renowned department store, is closing at Polaris. This location has been a Polaris institution and destination since 2001.

The store, located at 1500 Polaris Parkway, will shutter this spring, and all 41 employees there “will be separated from employment” between April 11 and 30, according to the Workers Adjustment and Restraining Notification letter.
Eight more Saks Fifth Avenue and 57 Saks Off 5th stores are slated to close around the U.S. in order to gear their attention towards “more profitable locations.” There will be a closing sale, so stay tuned for that!
