6,000 pigs killed in Central Ohio barn fire

Earlier this week on February 25th, fire crews responded to a blaze at Fine Oak Farms in Madison county, Ohio. A barn caught fire with 7,500 pigs within—fire crews were able to save 1,500 leaving 6,000 dead.

Crews from 15 departments worked for five hours to contain the blaze. No humans were injured in the process. Water had to be shuttled in via tankers, and the wind was 20-35 mph at the time of the blaze. Operations have halted for Fine Oak Farms in the wake of the fire. 

Fine Oak Farm is located at 3180 Davis Road SW. in London, Ohio. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but arson is not suspected at this time.
