After 16 years, Worthington business ‘forced’ to close

As the month of June comes to an end, so too will a 16-year stint from a Worthington gift shop.

According to a post made to the brand’s social media pages, Pizazz Gift Shop will officially close its doors on June 30. The store is located inside of The Shops at Worthington.

“Dear friends of Pizazz: Circumstances beyond our control have forced us to close our doors…We’re proud to have provided handcrafted gifts to you and yoursp for the past 16 years, and invite you to celebrate that with us through June,” the post reads.

One of co-op’s artist’s, Sherry Stewart, told 614Now that part of the decision had to do with the situation of Pizazz, while another part was due to conditions at the mall.

“Our artists are aging, and other issue is that we’re cooperative; we are the work force. Without knowing our future in the mall, it became really difficult if not impossible, to attract other people,” she said. “We could not see a long term future.”

The Worthington gift shop served as a member owned co-op that sold products from a wide variety of local makers and artisans. Pizazz Gift Shop is located at 110 Worthington Sq. in Worthington. It will offer deals during its last few weeks, and will even be selling some of its in-store fixtures.

While Stewart didn’t have any clear ideas about the future of the co-op, she said Pizazz is hoping to hold a pop-up at some point in the future, although she noted it would likely not be until late summer at the earliest.

“We don’t know how that looks; we don’t know if that will be at the mall, but we know we want it to happen,” Stewart said.
