“After extensive efforts, ongoing conversations, and dedicated attempts to obtain the necessary licensure to continue serving our community, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors,” the post reads. “This was not a decision made lightly — especially knowing the tremendous support, trust, and need our community has shown for the services we provided.”

The business, which was the first and only freestanding birth center in the state and was certified by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers, first opened in January of 2024. It was able to provide prenatal and gynecological care, and aimed to offer birth services to individuals with low-risk pregnancies, but was unable to do so because of a state licensing issue. The Birth Center sought a wavier as part of its licensing application with the Ohio Department of Health that would have allowed it to offer birth services as well.

The Ohio Birth Center was located at 3530 Snouffer Rd.
