After losing key client, Columbus business closing this year, laying off 115 people

According to a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification), a major transportation company here in Columbus is shutting down their operation after losing a major client.

Parsel LLC, originally based in Cincinnati, will no longer operate here, closing the Thoroughbred Drive facility by May 1.

The notice explains that the reason for closing is due to “the loss of the entirety of the business contracted by the customer. All negotiations for an ongoing business relationship failed.” While the noticed didn’t say which client, it said that there is no viable path to continue operations here in Columbus.

As a result, 115 workers in Columbus will be laid off. 80 of them are loader operations, 12 are mechanics, and another dozen or so are in management positions, according to the notice. Severance has reportedly not been offered.
