Over 100 animals seized by Licking County Humane
Over 100 animals have been seized in a rescue operation conducted by the Licking County Humane Society in Muskingum County. According to a press release, the animals were removed from an unsafe and neglectful environment on June 24.
The release said, “The Licking County Humane Society was contacted by the Muskingum County Sheriff’s office to assist with a large-scale animal welfare case involving approximately 103 animals. Of those animals, approximately 66 were dogs with cats and chickens also seized as part of the investigation. The Licking County Humane society has taken in approximately 42 of the dogs found on the property where they were living in neglectful conditions and unfit environments.”

According to the statement, the dogs were safely transported to the Licking County Humane Society’s facility in Heath, Ohio for immediate intake and medical evaluation. The transportation was made possible with the support of large-scale transport vehicles provided by ASPCA. Jane Tomsich, Executive Director of the Licking County Humane Society said, “Our priority is ensuring that the dogs receive the care, medical attention, and safe housing they need while this investigation moves forward. We are grateful for the collaboration with the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and meeting the immediate and ongoing needs of these animals.”
The Licking County Humane Society anticipates a significant need for community assistance, including foster homes, donations, and continued support as the animals begin their recovery journey. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available, this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
