A longtime McDonald’s location in Gahanna is slated for a dramatic transformation.

Planning documents reviewed by 614NOW show the restaurant on Agler Road is proposing to demolish its existing building and replace it with a new, nearly 2,000-square-foot restaurant designed around drive-thru, mobile and delivery orders.

The proposal went before the Gahanna Planning Commission on June 10 and included a development plan application and a variance request covering multiple sections of the city’s zoning code.

According to the application, the new restaurant would operate as a “kitchen-only” facility with no customer-accessible dining room. Instead, the location would be focused on drive-thru service, mobile ordering and delivery operations. The building would contain food preparation areas, employee workspaces and a break room.

Site plans also show a redesigned drive-thru operation and updated landscaping, screening and signage elements. After Planning Commission approval, the project can move forward through permitting and construction review.
