Columbus-area boutique closes after 10 years; Here’s what replacing it

While New Albany recently lost a long-standing Downtown boutique, a new business boasting a sizable social media following is set to open in its former home.

According to an Instagram post, artisan boutique Elliot Cooper, which operated at its New Albany home for a decade—following the merger of local boutiques Tailfeathers and Three French Hens—closed earlier this year after the retirement of owners Cheryl Cooper and Katharine Elliot.

In its place, a popular artisanal home goods shop Cottonwood Shanty will be expanding into the former Elliot Cooper storefront, which is located at 220 Market St. STE E.

“We’re hoping to bring something so special and beautiful to this storefront right off of Market Street! Whimsical displays with a refined design with touches of cocoa and brass,” a social media post from the brand, which boats over 60,000 Instagram followers, reads. “We have some good stuff in the works for autumn and this holiday season…it’s going to be spectacular! Ya ready?!”

Cottonwood Shanty, which will continue to operate its original location in Millersburg, and plans to open its New Albany location in September, although an exact date wasn’t shared.
