Columbus bakery solves case of mystery front door pooper; social media goes wild

Jack McLaughlin

Riley Harris, owner of the popular Columbus bakery Love Riley,  found a surprise at the front door of her Lewis Center storefront Sunday morning. Only, it wasn’t a good one.

It was poop.

“I found it yesterday morning when I went to work on some things at Lewis Center,” she told 614Now.

Harris followed her discovery with a social media post that reads “When the hate comments couldn’t reach me so someone popped on my front door,” a post that garnered nearly 750 likes in just three hours by the time this story was published.

Thankfully, after doing a bit of detective work, she discovered the mystery pooper wasn’t a human after all.

“We were able to get footage from our neighbor’s Vibe Venue, and saw that it was from a big dog that was accompanied by an owner,” she said. “The video was a good way to laugh off having to clean it up, but when I made [the post] I had no idea who or what left it.”

White the case is closed, so to speak, Harris said that the incident prompted some reflection.

“I’m glad we were able to figure out who left it, but it makes me sad to see how careless people can be,” she said. “I just hope the dog gets the care and love it deserves, I definitely don’t blame it.”
