A representative of the store confirmed that the second location at 5352 N. Hamilton Road is slated to open in the next two months. The flagship location is located in Hilltop at 3260 W. Broad Street—just down the road from three addiction recovery centers.

As previously reported by 614Now, a representative of the store stated that the  name was originally meant as a way to “simply reflect the spiciness we offer,” as guests can select their own spice level, from “sober” with no spice, to their highest level, “overdose”. They noted there “no joke or bad intention” behind the name.

Following online and community backlash for the name after opening in 2024, a representative of Overdose Hot Chicken told 614Now, ”We deeply regret any unintended offense caused by our choice of name as we don’t want to offend anyone. We recognize the pain that has inflicted on this community, and we want to be respectful and sensitive. I personally have reached out to local people and businesses in the area to gather their thoughts and opinions and what they suggest in order to overcome this issue.” The second location will open under the same name this summer.
