Debby Ryan names her favorite Columbus restaurants on ‘Last Meals’
Debby Ryan may not be from Columbus, but being married to Twenty One Pilots drummer and Columbus native Josh Dun has apparently given her plenty of time to get acquainted with the city’s food scene.

Ryan recently appeared on Last Meals, the YouTube and Netflix show hosted by Josh Scherer that asks celebrities what they would want to eat for their final meal on Earth. When Ryan got the chance to build hers, she packed it with shoutouts to some of her favorite Columbus-area spots.
“I’m not from Columbus. I moved there six years ago, my husband is from there,” she said. “What I discovered upon moving there is they’re doing really cool stuff with food.”
Ryan went on to describe Columbus as “a creative city” that’s “cool, sort of like progressive and on top of things.” She had the Columbus restaurant recommendations to back up those claims.
First up was Comune’s Crispy Rice, a South Side favorite featuring crisped rice topped with kimchi, tahini sauce, green onion, a soft-cooked egg and avocado. Ryan added some Columbus-made Black Cap Hot Sauce to the dish.
She also shouted out Speck, calling it one of her favorite restaurants in Columbus and saying she “really loves good Italian food.” Her pick from the restaurant was the Bone Marrow, served with spinach casarecce, short rib, a5 tallow, herbs, and plenty of pecorino.
Then there was Gene’s, the Dublin restaurant known for its Italian-inspired menu. Ryan chose the Crudo, a ceviche-like dish made with raw fish, pickled Fresno chili peppers, citrus juice and chive oil. Ryan washed down the savory dishes with an Ocean Water from Sonic.
The dessert selection included Buckeyes (naturally) and the Canadian Latte from Begin Cafe in Westerville. The espresso drink gets its sweet flavor from maple syrup, brown sugar and butter extract.
Between the restaurants, coffee, hot sauce and Buckeyes, Ryan managed to squeeze a delightfully thorough Columbus food tour into the show. While Ryan may have moved to Columbus because of her Ohio-born husband, it sounds like the city’s food scene has given her plenty of reasons to stick around. You can watch the full episode here.
