Video: Deer crashes through window of local high school during class; Students removed from room

Earlier this month, Olentangy Liberty High School (OLHS) students in biology class received a very up close look at some local wildlife. 

According to assitant director of communications at Olentangy Schools Amanda Beeman, a wild deer broke through the window of an Olentangy High School classroom shortly before 9:30 a.m. on the morning of April 17.

Students of Katrina Ellis’ biology class, who were in the room at the time of the incident, were “quickly removed.” A second video provided by Olentangy Schools show students running from the classroom following the incident.

Beeman said that OLHS nursing and counseling staff were on hand to assist impacted students, and to help students recover their personal belongings from the room.

Shortly after the incident, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Delaware Public Health District were immediately contacted and responded. Officers removed the deer from the school, and classes in the building resumed at 9:43 a.m., according to a text messages sent from the school to parents.
