Firefighters respond to shed fire at Central Ohio pizza restaurant

Fire crews responded to a smokey blaze on Friday afternoon in downtown Delaware. The fire occurred behind Amato’s Woodfire Pizza located at 6 S. Sandusky St. in Delaware. According to the fire department, a vinyl shed behind the restaurant caught fire and spread to an exterior cooler.

30 firefighters responded to the incident. The fire was contained quickly and there were no injuries reported in connection with the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, streets were closed while crews contained the incident. 

According to a post from the City of Delaware, the initial indication is that a small freezer located behind a downtown restaurant caught fire. The post reads “Crews quickly extinguished the fire and are packing up equipment.” Amatos is open for business following the incident, check out their menu and hours here.
