According to a news report by the Delaware Gazette in January, Hoffman’s stalking charges were the result of text messages and a package of handwritten letters and presents for her children sent to the victim’s house in December of last year. Before that, in November, he approached the victim at her daughter’s school, despite police ordering him not to contact her.
According to the article, a probable cause affidavit filed by a Powell police officer stated that Hoffman’s actions “have caused the victim significant emotional distress with heightened anxiety, an ongoing inability to sleep, and disruption to her sense of security in her own home.”
Hoffman resigned from the Delaware City Council January 5 following the arrests.
An oral hearing is scheduled for April 17.
