From police encounters to rapping at wholesale PC stores, the Island Boys have landed in Columbus

From the island to the Midwest, these TikTokers are creating questionable content in Columbus.

Florida-grown brothers Alex and Franky Venegas, better known as Flyysoulja and Kodiyakredd, rose to TikTok fame in 2021 after their song “I’m an Island Boy” went viral. Fast forward five years, and The Island Boys are still squeezing out content, clinging on to that last bit of virality.

By some stroke of luck, the Island Boys have decided to grace Central Ohio with their meme-worthy presence. On Instagram, Flyysoulja—with well over 1 million followers—announced a “Who’s the Next Island Boy” Competition held on Sunday, July 26th at Goodale Park. While the video has more than 66,000 views, the turnout seemed to be lackluster—safe to say the next Island Boy is not in Columbus.

Flyysoulja continued to explore Central Ohio, making his way around local coffee shops and businesses, giving them proper shout-outs on his social media. One shop, Wholesales Pcs Outlet in Hilliard, enjoyed Flyysoulja so much that they posted three videos with him in the store, including an advertising rap where Flyysoulja, while offbeat, boasts about the shop’s prices.

Just when the Island Boy was getting used to Ohio’s capital, a police run-in while Flyysoulja was livestreaming quickly changed the brothers’ impression of the city. According to Flyysoulja, police arrived at the property responding to a false report someone had called in while he was livestreaming. After speaking with the police, Flyysoulja was brought to the ground by officers and detained for alleged obstruction. After being released, he shared a video to Snapchat explaining his side and said he has a court date scheduled sometime in August related to the incident.

On the other hand, his brother, Kodiyakredd, defended his brother along with some slight bashing of the state. 

“Nobody’s ever heard of Ohio do anything but weird stuff,” Kodiyakredd posted to social media. 

While it seems the Island Boys are still in Columbus, it is probably a safe bet that it will be a while until they make their Midwest return.
