Giant Eagle brings street-legal, 10 foot tall shopping cart to Columbus

Something big has arrived in Columbus—and it’s cruising down High Street as we speak. A massive six-passenger, street-legal, 25-miles-to-the-gallon shopping cart may be spotted around town this weekend.

Giant Eagle’s viral “Giant Buggy” is rolling into town, just in time to kick off Buckeye football season. The Giant Buggy is exactly what it sounds like: a supersized, fully drivable shopping cart previously spotted cruising Pittsburgh, where it made the rounds at spots like Mount Washington and PNC Park.  It’s street-legal (somehow) and decked out with branded flags and signage. Novelty vehicles don’t get much more “you have to see it to believe it” than this.

The buggy has officially arrived in Columbus, it can be seen cruising High Street here. According to a Giant Eagle representative, the buggy is here to help kick off Buckeye football season. Ohio State opens its 137th season this Saturday, Sept. 5, against Ball State at Ohio Stadium, with kickoff at 12:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network. It’ll be the first time the Buckeyes and Cardinals have ever met on the field. Keep an eye out, you may spot a six-person shopping cart rolling by with flags flying while you tailgate this weekend.
