Grandview Heights to elect first ever Dog Mayor
Grandview Heights is in the midst of a fiercely competitive political race—a four legged one. The City of Grandview Heights has partnered with The Wag to find the city’s first-ever Dog Mayor, and local pups now have the chance to hit the campaign trail.

The Wag announced the race via social media, the post said “Grandview is getting a new mayor… and this one has paws. We have partnered with Grandview Heights to have Grandview’s first-ever Dog Mayor!”
The Wag is looking for dogs with big ideas and even bigger campaign platforms, whether that means more treats, mandatory belly rubs or longer walks—if your pup has a strong opinion on these topics, the people of Grandview Heights want to hear from them.
Nominations are open from Sept. 8 through Sept. 16. After nominations conclude, five finalists will be selected by a committee made up of representatives from The Wag and the City of Grandview Heights. Those finalists will then advance to a public vote running from Sept. 23 through Oct. 7.
There are a few rules before your dog officially enters the race. Nominees must live in the City of Grandview Heights, and their nomination must be submitted by an owner who is at least 18 years old. Owners will also need to submit a photo, explain why their dog deserves the political power, and provide their pup’s official campaign platform.
The five finalists will also need to be available to participate in campaign content and attend the Oct. 9 Dog Mayor ceremony at The Wag.
The City of Grandview Heights shared the same nomination details, encouraging residents to nominate their dogs for the city’s inaugural canine officeholder. Give them a platform and let the people of Grandview Heights decide if they’re the right fit for the job.
