Historic Central Ohio farm attraction closed as officials investigate fire

A Genoa Township park is closed until further notice as investigators determine the cause of a fire that occurred on August 24.

Freeman’s Farm, located at 6142 Lewis Center Road, is a historic 43.79-acre property that joined the Township’s park system in 2025 after being owned by five generations of the Freeman family since 1868.

Early Tuesday morning at 1:13 a.m., Genoa Township posted about the fire, urging the community to stay out of the park until an investigation can be completed. The fire appears to only have damaged a storage facility housing major farming machinery. The park’s historic barn was not impacted by the fire.

The farm is known for its upcoming fall attractions including the Fall Fest to be held on October 24.
