Hundreds of animals, including horses and pony, killed in Central Ohio barn fire
It wasn’t the bitter cold that killed hundreds of Central Ohio animals early Monday morning, but rather hot flames.
Around 4:30 A.M., a large Galloway barn sheltering hundreds of animals from the winter storm caught fire. Multiple people rent the space at the barn to keep their animals.
One person reported that the flames killed 100 of his chickens, and six horses, a pony, and multiple goats are reported to have been killed in the fire. Three horses were able to escape.

This is all around a devastating, tragic incident for the community.
Unfortunately, due to the extreme heat, the fire department said that it was difficult to arrive on the scene due to the icy roads, and putting the fire out itself was challenging, as their hoses froze up.
Investigators are still looking into what sparked this fire. There were reportedly electric blankets in the barn used to keep the animals warm, but that has not been ruled as the factor.
