KKK flyers found near schools and neighborhoods in Columbus area
Hate speech flyers were distributed across the Clintonville and Worthington area on Tuesday, alarming the community.
On September 29, Clintonville residents noticed flyers from an Ohio-based group described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a well-known extremist group.
The materials contained hate-filled messages and a threatening presence. One flyer titled “Neighborhood Watch” claimed, “No need for Flock, when were on the block, you can sleep sound tonight, the Klan is awake.” (Note: “were” is spelled incorrectly on the flyer).
Similar messages were found in Worthington on Tuesday as well, including near several elementary and middle schools.

Many community leaders release statements denouncing the flyers.
The Worthington Board of Education reported the flyers to the Southern Poverty Law Center. “We’re disgusted. We’re outraged. And we’re sad. For our friends, neighbors, students and staff in our schools who would say they’re not surprised by this because, on some level, they’ve lived with it their entire lives: We believe them,” Worthington Superintendent Trent Bowers said in a statement.
Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther also stated, “This hateful intrusion goes against everything the City of Columbus stands for. It is despicable behavior, I am angry and saddened that children, families and all residents get exposed to this garbage.”
Ginther encourages anyone who has witnessed the flyers being placed or noticed any suspicious behavior to the Columbus Division of Police.
