Local mother & daughter charged with animal cruelty after 22 animals rescued from property in horrific conditions

Sav McKee

Nine dogs, five pot belly pigs, three cats, two chickens, a duck, a turtle, and a rabbit were all rescued last month from a Delaware, OH property, and a mother and daughter have been charged with more than two dozen misdemeanor counts related to animal cruelty.

On Jan. 23, along the 2600 block of U.S. 23, the sheriff reported horrific conditions inside of their home. Trash piled multiple-feet high, animal urine and feces throughout the home, and dogs kept in zip-tied shut crates. The windows were broken and covered with blankets, and the report says that the animals were kept in the garage with no heat.

The pigs were kept outside and showed signs of hypothermia, trying to keep warm under old tossed wire shelving, huddled together shivering. One had to be euthanized. The roosters had frostbite on their feet. The animals did not have access to food or water.

The suspects, Angela Kimbleton and Sharon Hinton, had a run-in with the humane society in 2021, where more than 20 dogs and cats were removed from their property. They are scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Feb. 23, and the Humane Society of Delaware County says the animals will not be up for adoption until the legal case concludes.

For now, the animals are receiving medical care and the healing they need and deserve. If you’d like to donate towards their care, please visit The Humane Society of Delaware County’s website!
