German Village bar closing early due to unwanted guests, late-night disturbances

Unwanted disturbances are causing this longtime German Village pub to scale back its hours.

Hey Hey Bar & Grill, located at 361 E Whittier St., known for its friendly environment, comfort-bar dishes, and live music, has faced a series of late-night disruptions to its good time.

On June 27, the bar posted an announcement on Facebook stating that, due to ongoing disturbances in the surrounding area, Hey Hey Bar & Grill will scale back its hours, closing at 1 a.m. instead of 2:30 a.m.

“We want to be a good neighbor and the garbage being thrown in the street, the loud car music, young underage people that we don’t allow in the bar continuing to hang around outside yelling and fighting will not be tolerated,” the post read.

The post continues with a warning of more scaling back if late-night behavior does not improve. Until then, the change in hours will remain in effect until further notice.
