Missing tooth, criminal charges: Teens start movie theater fight

Five young moviegoers ranging in age from 14 to 19 were charged after a fight inside a Grove City theater spilled outside Monday night, leaving one teenager with a missing tooth, according to a police report obtained by 614NOW.

Officers were called to the AMC on Buckeye Parkway around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 3 for a report of a fight involving multiple people. When officers arrived, police said they found several people still arguing.

Police believe the fight began near a bathroom inside the theater. According to accounts provided to officers, an argument escalated into a physical confrontation inside the building before the fight continued outside.

Once outside, police said two girls involved in the incident also began fighting. One lost a tooth during the fight. Police also noted visible redness on the cheek of another person involved and an abrasion on the elbow of a third.

Jackson Township medics responded and evaluated three people at the scene. All were treated there and said they didn’t need to go to a hospital.

Officers also reviewed AMC surveillance footage as part of their investigation.

Five suspects – ages 14, 15, 15, 18 and 19 – were ultimately charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct-fighting. The three minors were charged through Franklin County Juvenile Court, while the two adults were issued summonses to Grove City Mayor’s Court.

The group’s guardians were called to the theater to pick them up.
