Commenters online were quick to make their opinions on Ramaswamy’s skills at bat known. One user said, “Why would u post that swing.” Another said, “You lost my vote for that swing alone.” One said, “Can’t swing a bat for shit in a swing state is wild.” Another said, “With that swing, my guess is that this took about 100 takes.” Another said, “Who thought this was a good concept for a commercial?” Another said, “This gave me second hand embarrassment.”

Instagram user Michael Peacock happened to witness the batting cage video being filmed. He gave a firsthand account of the experience. Peacock said, “I happened to be at this batting cage when he arrived, I have the inside scoop. At this particular batting cage they have many different speeds for different levels of play. They [Vivek’s team] chose the slow pitch which is about 40 mph. He made contact five times out of 25 pitches with this garbage ass swing.” Peacock said, “He [Ramaswamy] then left without talking to any of his potential constituents or possible voters.” He noted that baseball is difficult, “Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in sports. And I am not a proponent of bullying anyone for attempting it…however…” You can watch the full campaign video here.
