Ohio McDonald’s employee hospitalized after reaching into fryer to retrieve dropped earbuds
A Belmont County McDonald’s employee was taken to the hospital after she reached into the eatery’s fryer to retrieve an earbud that fell into a container of hot oil, according to a WTRF story.
The incident took place around 4 p.m. on Dec. 29, at the McDonald’s located at 300 Hanover St. in Martins Ferry.
Officials told WTRF that Martins Ferry EMS responded to the scene and rushed the employee to the WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, as she had suffered burns to her hand.

The employee was not identified. Her status, and whether or not she remains at the hospital, is currently unclear.
According to a People story, fast food fryers can reach upwards of 375 degrees, which can cause “any level of burn,” depending on how long a person’s skin was in contact with the oil.
