Ohio ranks fourth in nation for anti-LGBTQ+ incidents in 2025

GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, has released data on anti-LGBTQ incidents in 2025 from the ALERT Desk, GLAAD’s Anti-LGBTQ Extremism Reporting Tracker.

According to the report, Ohio ranked fourth in the nation in 2025 for the highest number of anti-LGBTQ+ incidents. 51 of the 1,042 total incidents took place in Ohio. According to the report, in 2025 the ALERT Desk tracked 1,042 anti-LGBTQ incidents in 47 US states and the District of Columbia. There were 128 acts of hateful vandalism, 76 violent assaults, 22 threats of mass violence, and 15 arson attempts.

This is a 5% increase in reported incidents since 2024. “Americans should refuse to accept a country where our neighbors fear for their safety,” GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement.
