One of Columbus largest craft breweries abruptly closes both locations

Nocterra Brewing Co. has abruptly halted operations at both locations. As of today, operations at both the Powell and Audubon locations have paused. According to an email to employees obtained by 614Now, the business is “on hiatus as we work to find the final path for Nocterra.”

In the email to employees, co-owner and co-founder Bryan Duncan said, “It’s with incredibly heavy hearts that we are confirming the rumor mill. Nocterra has run its last shift as of today. Heartbreak doesn’t even begin to describe it. We understand the impact this has on all of you, and we promise we exhausted every resource, connection, ability, and dollar at our disposal to find a path allowing Nocterra to continue under its current structure. Unfortunately we are out of runway to keep fighting. Starting Monday 8/31, operations at both locations are on hiatus as we work to find the final path for Nocterra. We thank you all, deeply, for the talent, kindness, and community you brought to our spaces. We built a brewery, you all built Nocterra.”

614Now spoke with an employee who said, “We, at Audubon, knew Saturday mid-day would be our final shift. Didn’t hear anything or receive this email until last night after midnight, so technically Monday morning 12:10am … Over the previous weekend, full time employees saw their dental and vision healthcare no longer active because, presumably, missed payments.”

Nocterra Brewing Co., was founded in 2018—their flagship location is at 41 Depot St., in Powell. In 2024 the company expanded to a second restaurant and bar at 516 Maier Place at the Scioto Audubon Metro Park. Stay tuned for more information and follow them here for announcements and updates.
