Report: Pizza Hut robbery suspect came back days later for lost wallet

A 22-year-old Columbus man is facing a first-degree felony aggravated robbery charge in connection with an incident at a Pizza Hut near Ohio State University’s South Campus area.

According to Franklin County court records reviewed by 614NOW, Romel D. Henry was charged June 10 with aggravated robbery. The charge stems from an incident that occurred June 9.

NBC4, citing Columbus police, reported that Henry allegedly attempted to purchase a pizza at a North High Street Pizza Hut before taking the food without paying after his card was declined. Police told the outlet that a store manager followed Henry outside, where an altercation occurred that left the manager seriously injured. Henry later returned to the restaurant looking for a wallet he allegedly dropped during the incident, at which point officers took him into custody.

Court records reviewed by 614NOW show Henry appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court on June 11, where a judge set bond at $1 million.

As conditions of bond, Henry was ordered to stay away from both the incident location and the alleged victim, commit no further acts or threats of violence and refrain from possessing firearms, weapons or ammunition.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 18.

Franklin County court records show Henry has prior criminal cases dating back several years, including convictions for theft-related offenses.
