Shattered windows, lifted roofs: Ohio storms leaves local restaurants picking up the pieces

Over the past 24 hours, Central Ohio has experienced more than 40,000 lightning strikes, wind gusts exceeding 80 mph, and over 2 inches of rainfall. According to AEP, about 84,000 Ohio customers are still without power. Among the uprooted trees, snapped power lines, and airborne roof shingles, many local businesses are suffering from the recent storm damage, either closed for patching windows or experiencing unforeseen power outages.

Derive Brewing Company – 2808 N. High St.

After yesterday’s storm blew out the taproom’s entire front window, Derive is currently working on the window with some help from Columbus neighbors, Mantis Metalcraft, for a quick and safe patch. Derive is hoping to have its taproom up and running by the weekend.

DawgHouse Pizza – 2031 Lockeborne Rd.

Temporarily closed due to some major roof damage to the restaurant. DawgHouse will update its socials when able to reopen.

The Attic Comedy Club – 892 Oak St.

The storm took The Attic’s roof and forced a cancellation of all shows on Wednesday and Thursday. While the comedy club works hard to repair the damage, its social media will provide updates for fans on its progress and a future opening date.

Hank’s Low Country Seafood & Raw Bar – 6 W. Gay St.

Wild winds caused a domino effect, leading to Hank’s awning being knocked down. So far, the seafood bar has not mentioned the damage and appears to be operating as usual.
