This chain has closed nearly 30 Ohio stores in less than a year

While dollar stores still seem like they’re on just about every other street corner in the Buckeye state, a new analysis found at least one brand has lost more than two dozen Ohio stores in less than a year.

According to an analysis from AI rank-tracking platform Local Falcon, Family Dollar has shuttered 28 stores in Ohio since July of 2025.

Local Falcon noted the chained closed a total of 350 stores in that same timeframe, and Ohio’s 28 closures were the second most of any state. Texas tabbed the most, with 35 store closures in that span. 

According to the analysis, Ohio had a steeper percentage decline of Family Dollar locations than the state of Texas, as it lost 28 out of 393 stores in Ohio, or just over 7 percent of its total store volume, which was 7th highest in the nation.
