Man who moved to Central Ohio after White Castle trip honored in burger chain’s ‘Hall of Fame’ class

The cast of characters who will be inducted into White Castle’s Cravers Hall of Fame this year is fascinating: Bill from Indiana has eaten at over 100 locations in his lifetime; White Castle’s been the yearly Valentine’s tradition for a mother-daughter duo from Michigan; the Hastings from Zanesville have a devotion to the chain spanning four generations; two Californian podcasters released a bestselling book, “theCoderBros Go To White Castle,” tipping their hat to the cult classic 2004 comedy “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle;” and as a dare, Cort, sweet Cort, from right here in the 614, ran a 13.1-mile marathon dressed in his finest: a full-sized White Castle Slider costume.

Another now-local man, Andrew Meador, was living in West Virginia when he stopped by his local grocery store to grab some frozen Sliders. After a grocery store employee told him he needed to try the real thing, he (alongside friend Chad Wood) took a trip to Columbus to experience White Castle. According a press release from the brand, he enjoyed the Columbus area so much that he eventually relocated to Powell. Due, at least in part, to a simple burger run.

No matter the unique ways they choose to revere the establishment, all 14 inductees of the 25th anniversary class of Cravers will share this immortalization of their devotion to White Castle in common.

“Every year, the Cravers Hall of Fame reminds us that White Castle is about so much more than Sliders. It’s about the memories, traditions and connections our fans create around them,” said Jamie Richardson, White Castle’s chief marketing officer, in the release. “This year’s inductees represent the very best of that passion, and we’re honored to celebrate the stories that make the Crave truly one of a kind.”

The Cravers Hall of Fame was started by the Columbus-based hamburger chain in 2001. 287 other diehard fans have been inducted since. Inductees are chosen from hundreds each year, evaluated by judges for “loyalty to the brand, their creative presentation, the originality of their story and the magnitude of their Crave,” according to the release.

The 14 inductees, coming from all across the nation, will receive a two-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Columbus, an induction ceremony on April 29, a plaque celebrating their place in the hall of fame, and a behind-the-scenes tour of White Castle’s home office. And, of course, and perhaps best, complementary breakfast and dinner at their favorite spot.
